Services

On Sundays

you usually have a choice of attending one or more of five services of varying styles designed to appeal to people at different stages of life and faith.

The usual pattern is described below.

8.00 a.m. Holy Communion – quiet, formal
A weekly Holy Communion Service without music, for those looking for a quiet, reflective start to Sunday Common Worship in traditional language, with Book of Common Prayer at Advent and Lent.

9.15 a.m. – contemporary
Aims to engage with newcomers alongside regular participants; it especially suits families with children.  An hour in length with a short sermon covering themes relevant to everyday life.  Contemporary worship with a music group and lead singers. Children's and youth groups run most weeks.  Holy Communion usually on the first Sunday of each month.

Do join us for coffee in St John's Hall between 9.15 and 11.00 services and if you are new to our church, make yourself known in the Welcome Corner in St John's Hall entrance.  The Church bookshop is open.

11.00 a.m. – formal
Aims to encourage newcomers and regular attenders who appreciate a more formal style of worship.  Follows the common worship liturgy in modern language and lasts an hour.  Well known hymns are sung with organ and robed choir, who also sign an anthem.  Holy Communion on the Third Sunday of each month.

6.00 p.m. – reflective
Emphasis is on deeper spiritual growth, with sermon topics designed to encourage Christian discipleship.  Contemporary songs and hymns are sung led by an instrumental group and singers.  Holy Communion on the fourth Sunday of each month.

7.30pm – informal, interactive
A contemporary, creative service held in St John’s Hall aimed to be accessible to older teens and adults.  Takes place each week in term time, except on the first Sunday in the month, when there is Re:action, a service for young people.

On weekdays
