Ephesians 3:20 comes to mind… we have had such an amazing time with the most amazing group of teenagers- I wouldn’t have missed it for anything. We left Knowle 8 days ago as a group of 12, who had never met together as a team. We were met at Chisinau airport by Sarah and Brian our Mission direct leaders, Chris, who is another mission direct member and Inge, who runs programs for people with disabilities.
After a Moldovan meal in Chisinau we went 2hr journey to our camp. I am overwhelmed by the vision of the camp, it used to be a camp in communist time for re-education of non-conformist people, this may we’ll have included Christians! It was bought in 2009 by Timma and his wife Olga’s church as a derelict camp. In less than 2 months with a massive team and many miracles later 600 children attended a Christian summer camp. They now have 3,000 children attend each summer, over several weeks. Many come back year after year and many come back as leaders.
Our work was to build a fence to surround a house that Inge has bought on the site. This house is in the process of being renovated as accessible for families with disabled children, so that children can attend the summer camps, have therapy input and to allow parents a little support and relaxation. These families have absolutely no support for under 8yr olds, and there is minimal for older than that!
I have been overwhelmed by the love, kindness, generosity and vision of everyone involved in Moldova and also the hard work, love, kindness, team spirit of our teenagers- we come home with a minibus full of Christian teenagers who have been changed in many ways and I am looking forward to seeing what God may be planning for each of them.
