For future generations

About For Future Generations

Our church building is probably the local community’s most historic building; the view of the church from the Kenilworth Road is certainly among the most recognisable images of the village.

As a church community, we also understand that the church isn’t meant to live only for itself. A parish church is there to serve all the people of its geographical locality, to love, serve, and care for the world around it.

For this reason, our “For Future Generations Project” has been devised to ensure that our physical building will be a hospitable, welcoming space for many kinds of community use and a shared asset that is open, inclusive, and valuable to the whole community….but with its current interior it is often used for only ten hours a week.

"For Future Generations” imagines a re-ordered and extended building that will better serve the needs of both the church and the local community. A more accessible and adaptable interior will suit modern worship and forms of church service, whilst flexible seating, accessible toilets and catering facilities will allow its use as a venue for support groups, lectures, political hustings and larger community gatherings. The simplified interior and new annex will ensure that all members of the community can use and enjoy the building with dignity and comfort.

Our vision is that local groups, charities, schools and residents can gather in a safe, flexible, and welcoming space. We’d like to serve our schools by opening up for drama productions, art exhibitions, assemblies and lessons. We want to be able to play host to local choir and music ensemble groups. As the largest indoor space in the village, we will be available for booking ourselves out for training events and conferences.

We know that we have a building of considerable historic and architectural significance. Parts of the interior reflect its medieval origins, whilst others are a result of the changes made by successive generations of worshippers.

Our proposals seek to enhance rather than harm this heritage whilst supporting our mission to share God’s light and love with all.

Alongside continuing as a vibrant centre of Christian worship, KPC will play a full part in strengthening community life, supporting wellbeing, and ensuring that we continue to serve present and future generations.

This is a big vision and we invite you to be part of our journey towards accomplishing it. We’d love you to feel a sense of ownership in what we’re trying to achieve. Thank you very much for your interest.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

Whether you are thinking of coming to church for the first time because you are interested in exploring faith,  whether you’re new to the area and looking for a church, or whether you’re investigating baptism or marriage, you are really welcome. Our vision is to be “A house of God’s light for all peoples and generations,” and we really hope you’ll get to experience some of that light.

You’ll find we have different styles of services that reflect our diverse congregation. Click here to find out which of our services might suit you.  When you arrive you should be met by a member of our Welcome Team who will be wearing a Welcome badge. Please do make yourself known to them so that they can let you have a Welcome Pack and, if you like, can introduce you to someone to sit next to in the service.

What is there for my children?
If you are coming along with children, you might find our 9.30 Family Service most suitable.  Most weeks, the children start in the church with their accompanying adult (we really value worshipping God altogether as an inter-generational community.) After around 15 minutes, children go out to their own Sunday groups. More details of these age groups can be found on our Children and Young People page. On the first Sunday of the month, we hold either an All Age or All In service.

How do I get to know people in such a big church?
While you will get to know some people if you come to a church service, it is often at smaller gatherings which happen during the week that you will get to know people better.  Click here to read about the other groups which run during the week and here for activities that go on at the church.

How can I get involved?
Click here to read about the many ways in which you can get involved in the life of the church. Getting involved is another great way of way of getting to know people. We’d love KPC to be a church where we grow spiritually by contributing.

We hope very much that you will like what you taste and soon feel at home in our church.

Best wishes,
Geoff Lanham, Vicar
